Eating Well

Half of the sugar children consume each year comes from snacks and sugary drinks. Eating too much sugar can lead to harmful fat building up inside and serious health problems, including painful tooth decay.

If you’re shopping for packaged snacks for your children, use Change4Life’s helpful tip to find healthier snacks – ‘Look for 100 calorie snacks, two a day max!’  Sign up on the Change4Life website to receive money-off vouchers for healthier snacks and helpful tips and ideas. Download the updated Change4Life ‘Food Scanner’ app, which brings labels to life and shows you just what’s inside popular snacks.

Get Active

10 Minute Shake Ups

Change4Life’s 10 Minute Shake Ups programme is helping the nation’s children to get active. Just 23% of boys and 20% of girls currently meet the national recommended level of activity of 60 minutes each day. Being active helps children to build social skills, boost self-confidence and mental wellbeing and improve bone and heart health.

Ideas for Disabled Children

For children to lead a healthy lifestyle they need to move as much as possible — and if they have additional needs this is just as important. Start off by choosing activities your child is interested in and adapt them. Visit the Change4Life website for lots of fun ideas to keep disabled children and young people active.
